One fourth of the way to a 100

So on Friday the 25th of November I had my 25th birthday. A big one for me 😀 Though, let’s be honest, I’m not too worried about getting older….I did get ID’d at the store while buying vodka on that very morning.

I spent 7 hours cooking for 15 people….sadly only 8 turned up, but oh well. It was still loads of fun. We played a few party games, drank a lot and made a mess in my apartment. Gosh that was fun to clean up this morning :S

A friend of mine gave me a vibrator as a gift for a gag 😀 GUess she knew how lonely I was going to feel during those upcoming long winter nights 😛

I’m glad everyone liked my cooking, I did work hard on it. I discovered cream cheese frosting which is heavenly. Highly recommended for cupcakes. And as a tradition I served my super good, moist, awesome chocolate cake. I have the recipe ever since I worked at this cute restaurant in Tallinn this past summer. I’m willing to share the recipe with you guys but I must warn you: This cake is severely addictive.

Enjoy the awesome cake tutorial:

Quick Recap

Ok, I know I haven’t been posting for awhile but I’m super busy with organizing my birthday party and work. I promise that as soon as the party is over I shall post a nice and long DIY post 😀

Fortunate cookies…

The last few days have been super crazy. I worked during the weekend and went out almost every night. Had fun too 😀

I’m now concentrating on organizing my birthday party. I had a super cool idea about a drinking game: Battle Shots and one of my friends gave me a great idea for the theme as well 🙂

I also finally saw the interview I gave with my grandma to a popular tv-show regarding the fund we both manage. It was so cool 😀 Though I must admit, I was shaking badly, but you can’t see that from the video.

I have another interview coming up this Thursday. This time I’m interview as a massive Twerd 😀 aka Twilight Nerd. I guess I better dust of my Twilight books.

As a practice for my birthday menu I attempted making Chinese fortune cookies today….time consuming, highly annoying but so yummy.

All in all things are good. Thursday is going to be exciting with the interview and Breaking Dawn coming out. And I have a sort of a date on Friday so looking forward to that as well 🙂

The unexpected…

Sometimes, when depression kicks in, I find it hard to function on a day to day basis.  Today is one of those days. Everything and everyone can be counted as a trigger. Just a little while ago I was watching a movie trailer, some soppy romance drama, and it set me off. I know now that no matter what I do today I won’t feel any better.

I have several different triggers. Such as emotional music (for instance the title sequence for Terra Nova always leaves me all teary), parades (can’t watch Princess Diaries without crying),  soppy love stories….seriously, why can’t life be like a movie sometimes. I so need some of that action.

The only thing that usually keeps me going is some sort of a project. Currently I’m using my blog as a creative outlet. And it actually works too which, I suppose, is a good thing.

When I feel sad or depressed or just plain useless I make lists. Number one, get a purpose, a goal, a plan. Number two, storyboard it, and so it goes.  Organizing my life helps me to function and most times it cheers me up.

I haven’t done a single useful thing today. Unless you count musing as something useful. However, I do have the ability to put a deadline on things. Such as, deadline for the time I’m allowed to cry when I’m sad or heart-broken etc. The deadline for this weird mood is until 10pm, as then I’m going to see a movie with a very dear friend who is excellent at cheering me up.

Like Bella in New Moon I didn’t choose a cute movie, instead we’re going to see Immortals in 3D. I have no idea what to expect, hell, I don’t think I’ve even seen the trailer yet 😛 But that’s the best part of tonight….the unexpected 🙂 Wish me luck!

Home Sweet Home

5 days away from Tallinn….heaven 🙂

I managed to recharge my batteries and to get a lot of work done. I think the best part about going home is the fact that mommy will cook 😀 heheeee

I also got to shop for supplies. Took my little sister shopping, she carries stuff well 😀

Now I’m back at my place. Enjoying my first coffee free day.

Wish me luck!

DIY: Chestnut necklace

Yesterday I collected some chestnuts and decided to use them to make a funky necklace. I got some brown pearls to go with it and I had some chain leftover from another DIY.

The hardest part was to pierce through the chestnut to pull a wire through for loops on both ends. I decided to use a thick needle and round nose pliers. Be careful when you do that. I managed to stab my finger and it hurt….A LOT!

Once you’ve pierced the chestnut you can pull wire through it and create loops on both ends thus turning the chestnut into a massive bead 😀

From then on it’s up to you, whether you want to make the necklace entirely from chestnuts, adding beads or chains or whatever else you like. That’s the beauty of a DIY project, you can change it as you see fit 🙂

I went for the natural look, used brown beads to match the chestnut color and slight chain. I actually used double to give it a more bulky look.

My mom and my sister loved this necklace so much that I’m already commissioned to make them their own versions. And I’m also gonna add a listing to my Etsy shop 🙂

Walking among the chestnuts

During my morning walk today I saw these gorgeous chestnuts on the ground. I’m now inspired to create a necklace using those chestnuts.

I have also convinced my mom to come to town with me (her place is around 5 km away from the nearest town). THere’s this awesome little craft store….super expensive…..but it has more stuff than the stores in Tallinn do. I need supplies.

I’m not looking forward to tomorrow. Firstly I have a doctor’s appointment and secondly I gotta head back to Tallinn. I so enjoy my short stays in Paide. They are good for recharging my batteries.

I’m also looking for a new book series to read. The last one was Opal Cowan series by Maria V. Sneyder. Super good. Talks about magic. I’m open for suggestions 🙂

Louboutin retro manicure

I have gel nails, meaning that I have to go to a professonal manicurist who then takes care of my nails:D She files them and helps me come up with a new design and then applies the gel in my desired fashion. The process can take up to 2 hours of my time and a fair bit of money each time. BUT, it’s so worth it. Gel nails stay gorgeous for weeks and it totally cuts down on time spent on your nails 🙂  More time for blogging. I got inspiration from Dita Von Teese who’s perfectly manicured nails are absolutely gorgeous 🙂 She also sports the gorgeous retro half-moon style, though she has chosen red instead of black.

This month I have opted for a retro look. Black nails with a half moon french tip. And just for kicks I’m going to get her to add a Gaga-esque finishing touch by painting the underside of the nail reed….inspired by the very famous Louboutin heels 😀

Aren’t they just the coolest? I love them!

Yummy Food at Drink Bar

Old Town is filled with awesome restaurants and bars. One of my personal favorites is definitely Drink Bar.

The atmosphere alone is big enough reason to head down for a beer and a snack.

I love hanging out with friends and I love eating. On one beautiful summer evening I headed to Drink Bar with Carmen.  We enjoyed a nice meal and took some photos 😀

Caroline’s Chunky Pearl Necklace

PS! I have the item on sale on ETSY

Lately I’ve been slightly obsessed with a new TV show called the 2 Broke Girls. There’s a character who wears and awesome pearl necklace and I wanted one just like it. I Googled and researched my little ass off but I couldn’t find anything. So, I decided to go ahead and make my own.

Here’s my inspiration:

Enjoy my tutorial 🙂 Sorry that it’s not very detailed, but I’ve never really written one before so go easy on me 😀

I found the pearls at this super cool store in Tallinn, it has everything a crafter could ever need 🙂

At first I wasn’t too sure about the chain as it was super gold….way over the top, but I’m happy with the final product 🙂
